The 19 projects selected and co-financed through the local call launched by ToNite are transforming the quality of life of neighbourhoods along the Dora River.
These projects deal with active citizenship actions, social and cultural animation initiatives and the activation of new services in the area, addressed to inhabitants, visitors and fragile people.
Sport is the focus of Aurora in Movimento project, promoting community engagement of local inhabitants of different ages, nationalities and genders. A weekly calendar of evening activities in public spaces is proposed improving the perception of safety and liveability in the neighbourhood: aerobic and gymnastics, basketball, table football, hip-hop and street games.
In order to re-discover the Lungo Dora Napoli area and experiment artistic and musical activities from sunset onwards, Lunadora proposes an outdoor web radio laboratory open to all, itineraries to discover hidden places and street art in Aurora, photography and bookbinding workshops for young and old, creative recycling workshops, photographic exhibitions and live music concerts.
A big success concerning common goods is the experience of Usanze Pellegrine, a project that involved inhabitants in codesigning and reopening the Pellegrino public Garden, which has been closing for years. A rich program of events and activities for citizens is promoted monthly, such as grandparents’ stories for children, street performances by artists from the Turin scene, juggling and circus courses, musical performances, film reviews, readings and moments for sharing needs and perspectives on the use of the garden.
Activities and events proposed by DORAinavanti are also engaging and spectacular: cultural and animation initiatives for children, young people, families, citizens and migrant communities, such as Chinese calligraphy workshops for children and intercultural cooking class for mothers, outdoor chess tournaments, circus laboratory for after-school children, itinerant theatre workshops on bicycles and a web radio to tell stories from the neighbourhood.





The AuroraFood project is focused on the richness of Aurora intended as the multitude of world cultures and communities living there, to be promoted through the enhancement of gastronomic cultures and the direct involvement of local community. Alongside the promotion of typical products and recipes from all over the world, “gastronomic mediators” organize gastronomic and cultural tours to discover the world by visiting the neighbourhood.
A new storytelling of Borgo Aurora comes from the Grandangolo project, which brings together various micro-actions to represent the “hidden” beauty of the neighbourhood, such as the artistic initiative of postcards from Aurora sent around the world, tactical urbanism actions involving children and students, or an open-air exhibition of dreams illustrations.

Among the public space regeneration initiatives, I Giardini sulla Dora project is promoting a co-design process with students for the architectural and functional redefinition of a new public space, “an outdoor classroom” and meeting place for all.
The development of conscious citizenship, sustainable behaviours and caring for public places are the basic principles of the Scandagli project – Courtyards in network along the Dora River, organizing workshops and activities with children and teenagers from the neighbourhood schools.
The #iorestoacasa (delquartiere) project proposes a calendar of musical events and theatrical performances, co-designed with the participation of young people attending evening educational activities. An urban regeneration process is leaded by Indigeno project, co-planned which local inhabitants and associations to find out a new and shared neighbourhood identity.
Manage Your Night project is focused on the nightlife management, involving workers in the nightlife sector (clubs, bars, events) to build awareness on night problems and enhance competences on managing and preventing risks and promoting safer-night goals.
A mobile social-health night unit from Per.Notte project brings support to young people and club managers through creative activities of awareness, prevention and reduction of risks from the use of alcohol and substances.
A social-health support service is provided by ApeCare, a mobile centre of volunteers, young street educators and doctors, offering a proximity service of basic health care and guidance to local services, adressed to fragile people.

The Una Famiglia che Accoglie project has enhanced the reception services for fragile people, offering trainings and work courses, Italian language courses and individual and family psychological support.
A series of projects are carrying out structural interventions and regeneration of private spaces to be open citizens. The YallaAurora project has recovered an abandoned place to launch a new participation centre and aggregative space for communities, co-designed and co-managed by young people: a study room and a reading and coworking room, a cinema for children, cultural meetings, language courses and desks for social and working support.

A new place for participation, “Il Salotto di Miranda” is being built by the Baracot project, which co-designed with the local community a new city avenue and social and aggregation activities.
A urban beach on the Dora River is the idea of the Bocciofila 2.0 project, a place of aggregation and entertainment for all ages: a space for educational and sporting activities in the nature, yoga among the trees, outdoor cinema, jazz concerts…
The Steiner and the City project, dedicated to neighbourhood’s students and inhabitants, will create projections of artistic and multimedia works on the banks of the Dora River, promoting the graphic, photographic and video productions of students for the sensitization of the inhabitants on themes of social interest and improve the safety perception of the visitors of the Dora area.
The Leone Ginzburg Campus is a very ambitious project, which is renovating a building that will host the International University College of Turin, the library of the Giuliano Einaudi Foundation and the Café Basaglia a famous aggregation centre from Borgo Aurora.
